Peugeot Sport has revealed the 2024 edition of its beloved 9X8 Le Mans Hypercar, showcasing updated aerodynamics, especially a rear wing, and a new livery. Manufacturer Stellantis plans to introduce the 2024 car at the next stage of the FIA World Endurance Championship, the 6 Hours of Imola, on April 21. Previously using the distinctive ‘wingless’ concept since mid-2022 season, Peugeot Sport has now incorporated revised aerodynamic bodywork and a new livery. Matthias Hossan, Brand Design Director at Peugeot, discussed the new aesthetic for the Hypercar. He explained that after a refined and modest design to celebrate Peugeot’s return to endurance racing in 2022, followed by the 2023 livery created by visual artist Demsky to celebrate the Centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 30th anniversary of Peugeot’s 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place victories at Le Mans, they have now developed a design showcasing the ‘lion’s head’ in various sizes. This graphic design represents a ‘pride of lions’ and effectively conveys the spirit of teamwork and abundance of talent within the team. The design incorporates different colors from the Peugeot Sport color palette, such as black, grey, white, and kryptonite. This theme is also incorporated into the lifestyle product line designed by Peugeot’s graphic design team.
