Oscar Piastri, from Australia, will start in sixth position for his second home grand prix at the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix. This comes after Max Verstappen secured pole position once again, beating Charles Leclerc from Ferrari. Despite Ferrari initially appearing to have the advantage in the first two segments, Verstappen managed to secure the top spot in the RB20, beating Carlos Sainz by a margin of 0.263s. Sergio Perez from Red Bull and Lando Norris from McLaren took advantage of Leclerc’s decision to abandon his final effort, resulting in the Monegasque driver finishing in fifth place. George Russell will start in seventh place for Mercedes, as Lewis Hamilton was eliminated in Q2. Yuki Tsunoda also advanced to Q3 for the second time this season and finished in eighth place, benefiting from minor mistakes made by the two Aston Martin drivers. Unfortunately, fan favorite Daniel Ricciardo had a disappointing performance and was eliminated in Q1 due to track limits violations.
