Suzuki remains committed to the production of flying cars, and after signing a partnership with SkyDrive, a leading company in the manufacture of cargo drones, it has now announced the start of production of the innovative vehicles at its Iwata factory.
The two companies signed a production agreement for the SkyDrive model (SD-05) in October 2023, and the model that has now entered production will be used during the 2025 World Expo to be held in Osaka, Japan, as an air taxi service.
After producing the first flying cars, the company has already announced that it will start production of vehicles for customers who have already reserved the new vehicle.
The SkyDrive flying car is based on the electric eVTOL prototype, with vertical take-off and landing capabilities, seating for three passengers, and equipped with 12 electric motors/rotors that promise flights lasting up to 30 minutes and speeds exceeding 100 km/h.
The company hopes that this flying car will be used in areas where geographical conditions do not allow for efficient public transportation or where there is no public transportation available.
