The Republican National Guard (GNR) revealed that during the Carnival Operation, which took place from February 5th to 14th, 57,233 drivers were inspected and 655 drivers were detected with excess alcohol, of which 251 were arrested for having a blood alcohol level equal to or higher than 1.2 g/l, and 97 people for driving without a valid license.
The GNR also revealed that during the days of the Carnival Operation, 1,071 fines were issued for speeding, in addition to 749 infractions for lack of periodic inspection; 283 for lack of compulsory civil liability insurance; 187 for lack or incorrect use of seat belts and/or child restraint systems; 183 for improper use of mobile phones while driving.
“Regarding road accidents, the GNR, in its area of responsibility, recorded 2,139 accidents, resulting in 4 fatalities, 39 serious injuries, and 631 minor injuries”, adds the GNR in a statement.
