LeSean McCoy Throws Shade at Dak Prescott, But Regrets His Choice of Words
LeSean McCoy, the former running back turned commentator, has been openly critical of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott throughout the season. However, in a recent interview with Julian Edelman on his Games With Names podcast, McCoy admitted that he may have gone too far with his remarks. He attributed his harsh comments to his lack of experience in broadcasting, stating, “I’ve had some struggles with TV, because I’m so raw and new at it. But in all reality, I should have said it differently, like ‘he’s playing like ass.’ Because it’s a lot of ass quarterbacks … I think he’s an average, above-average quarterback.”
McCoy’s clarification may come as a relief to Prescott, who has been the target of his criticism. Despite McCoy’s claims, Prescott had an impressive 2023 season, making him a top contender for the league MVP title. He threw for 4,516 yards, 36 touchdowns, and only nine interceptions. Additionally, he led the Cowboys to their third-consecutive 12-win season and secured the NFC East title.
Although the Cowboys ultimately fell short in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, losing 48-32 to the Green Bay Packers, Prescott’s performance cannot be discounted. Even after the defeat, he acknowledged his own shortcomings, saying, “I sucked tonight.” However, he still managed to throw three touchdowns and accumulate over 400 yards.
Prescott seems unfazed by McCoy’s criticisms. When asked about them in a radio interview, he responded nonchalantly, stating, “Honestly, I couldn’t tell you what he’s saying. I think he’s probably just getting paid well and likes his money.” It’s clear that Prescott doesn’t let McCoy’s opinions affect him.
As a Philadelphia Eagles legend, McCoy has a history of throwing shade at the Cowboys and their quarterback. And until the Cowboys can prove themselves in the playoffs, McCoy won’t be the only one talking trash.
