Users around the world have long been searching for a way to watch YouTube on their infotainment screens. And now, a new YouTube client called CarTubePlus has emerged, offering essential features for Apple users. Unlike previous solutions that required a jailbreak, CarTubePlus allows users to watch YouTube videos and playlists directly from their infotainment screen. It even supports YouTube Shorts.
One of the standout features of CarTubePlus is its integrated on-screen keyboard, which enables users to search for content without the need for a mobile device. Additionally, users can also comment on videos directly from their CarPlay system. This makes CarTubePlus the most advanced YouTube client available for CarPlay.
However, there are a few caveats to consider before attempting to install CarTubePlus. Firstly, the app cannot be found on the App Store and must be sideloaded using TrollStore. This may require some familiarity with jailbreaking. Secondly, CarTubePlus only functions when the user’s phone is awake. If the phone is sleeping, the app will not respond to touches.
Despite these limitations, the developer plans to make CarTubePlus completely free once it reaches the stable phase. Currently, the app is in beta-testing, and anyone can join by visiting their Patreon channel.
For Android Auto users, there is also a solution to access YouTube content on the infotainment screen. Although Google does not officially support this feature, apps like CarStream can unlock YouTube on Android Auto. However, it is important to note that watching YouTube while driving is highly dangerous and distracting. These apps should only be used when the vehicle is parked to ensure safety on the road.
