Toprak Razgatlioglu continues to show his strength and motivation at Donington Park, and was once again the fastest rider on track in the second WSBK free practice session on British soil, coming close to breaking the circuit’s fastest lap record.
The ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team rider completed his best lap in 1:26.013s, a 0.222s gap over second-placed Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team), while Nicolò Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) was third.
BMW had a positive day, with Scott Redding in fifth and Michael van der Mark in the top ten. However, Garrett Gerloff was unable to improve his time in the second session and finished 15th.
Petrucci led the Ducati charge, taking second place, followed by Bulega. Álvaro Bautista crashed but managed to recover to sixth place. Michael Ruben Rinaldi had a positive Friday, finishing eighth. Andrea Iannone, on the other hand, had a tough day with several crashes.
Alex Lowes also crashed during practice but managed to finish fourth. Axel Bassani made good progress between the two sessions, finishing tenth.
Andrea Locatelli was the best Yamaha rider in seventh, while Jonathan Rea had electronic problems in the first session and finished 12th.
Honda struggled at Donington, with Tarran Mackenzie the best rider of the brand in 19th place.
The championship continues this Saturday with more practice sessions and Superpole.
