Warriors’ Struggles Continue as Trade Deadline Approaches
The Golden State Warriors entered the 2023-24 NBA season with high hopes of contending for a title in the Western Conference. However, their season has not gone according to plan. Veteran point guard Chris Paul has been dealing with injuries, and Klay Thompson’s performance has declined. Even Andrew Wiggins has struggled to find his form.
In a recent game against the Atlanta Hawks, the Warriors put up a strong fight, led by Stephen Curry’s season-high 60 points. Despite their efforts, the Hawks came out on top in overtime. This loss highlighted the issues within the Warriors’ roster, especially with the NBA trade deadline just around the corner.
Rumors have been circulating that the Warriors might be willing to trade Thompson. ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins took to Twitter to express his belief that a “change of scenery” could benefit the sharpshooter. Perkins stated, “I still believe that Klay can be the Klay of old…he just needs a change of scenery.”
Thompson’s performance this season has been decent, averaging 17.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. However, it is clear that he is not the same player he once was. A change of scenery might be exactly what he needs to regain his form and become one of the best shooting guards in the game.
As the trade deadline approaches, it remains to be seen what the Warriors will decide to do. Will Thompson’s days in San Francisco be numbered? Only time will tell.
