Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers and his staff have been selected to coach the Eastern Conference squad at the 2024 NBA All-Star Game, as announced by the league. This comes after the Bucks’ impressive 25-point comeback win against the Dallas Mavericks, securing them the second-best record in the East through Feb. 4. Despite only being with the Bucks for three games, Rivers was overruled by the league when he attempted to decline the coaching role.
Rivers, a 62-year-old veteran coach, has previously coached at the All-Star Game three times in 2008, 2011, and 2021. He expressed his intention to give the All-Star Game bonus and ring to Adrian Griffin, who was previously part of the Bucks organization but was let go after 43 games. Griffin had a remarkable 30-13 record in his rookie season as a head coach.
The 2024 All-Star Game is set to take place in Indianapolis on Feb. 18, and Rivers will have the opportunity to lead his star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo and the rest of the Eastern Conference team.
