The Portuguese Automobile Association (ACAP) revealed that the market for new electrified vehicles grew by 16.1% in the first month of 2024.
By categories and types of vehicles, in January, 7227 new electric, plug-in, and electric hybrid passenger cars were registered in Portugal, which is a 15.3% increase compared to the same month of the previous year.
However, the market for 100% electric passenger cars saw a 10.5% increase compared to the same month in 2023, with 2494 new cars registered.
In the category of light commercial vehicles, the market for electric, plug-in, and electric hybrid vehicles showed a positive growth of 43.4% in the first month of 2024 compared to the same month in 2023, with 238 registered units.
In addition, in January, there was a 43% increase in the registration of new electric light commercial vehicles compared to the same month in 2023.
In the category of heavy vehicles, which includes passenger and commercial types, there was a growth of 266.7% compared to January of the previous year, with 11 new electric heavy vehicles registered.
