Toprak Razgatlioglu is in exceptional form, securing pole position for the first race and Superpole race of the Donington Park round of the World Superbike Championship this morning in a dominant fashion. Not only did he set a new lap record for the circuit, but he also outpaced his nearest rival by half a second.
With rain threatening to arrive at the British track, the riders hurried out onto the track. Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW) immediately lapped in the 1m24s, becoming the first rider in WSBK history to do so at Donington Park. No one could keep up with him, but the Turkish rider had not yet shown his full potential.
After a pit stop, Razgatlioglu returned to the track to set the time that would stand: 1m24.629s. Shortly after, Nicolò Bulega (Aruba.it Ducati) completed a lap that earned him second place, 0.573s behind the leader. Scott Redding (Bonovo Action BMW), competing at his home track, secured third place.
The second row of the grid will feature Sam Lowes (Elf Marc VDS/Ducati), Dominique Aegerter (GYTR GRT Yamaha), and Michael van der Mark (ROKiT BMW) in fourth, fifth, and sixth positions respectively. Álvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Ducati) is having a challenging weekend at Donington Park, managing only the 11th position.
