Esteban Ocon returns to represent Alpine in Formula 1 this year and does not seem particularly encouraged by the season starting at the end of February in Bahrain – fearing a decline in competitiveness of the car that will be unveiled on February 7th.
The website PlanetF1.com quotes Sky Sports F1 commentator David Croft: ‘Esteban told me before Christmas that the 2024 car is a bit slow’.
Naturally, for now, these are just words that hold little value: the first ‘trial by fire’ of the real performance of the cars will be the tests scheduled for Sakhir from February 21st to 23rd. Until then, they are simulator projections based on wind tunnel data.
Alpine had a much lower season than expected last year, finishing sixth in the Constructors’ Championship when they aimed to be closer to the top three. Now, they aim to recover, fighting for podiums more consistently like McLaren and Aston Martin have shown they are capable of.
