Porsche is working on a new high-performance Taycan, which has just set the fastest lap time for a Porsche at the Nürburgring circuit in Germany.
The Stuttgart-based brand has not revealed details about the new variant of the 100% electric model, only confirming that it completed a lap of the famous German circuit in 7m07.55 seconds, making it the fastest electric model from Zuffenhausen.
With Lars Kern, Porsche’s development driver, behind the wheel, a pre-production prototype of the electric model managed to improve the previous best time set by Porsche at Nürburgring by 26 seconds in August 2022 with a Taycan Turbo S Sport equipped with a Performance kit, as well as improve the time established by the Tesla Model S Plaid by 17 seconds.
In addition, the new record is approaching the record for the fastest lap at the well-known German circuit, set by the Rimac Nevera, the 1903 hp supercar.
The Stuttgart brand revealed that the model used to achieve the new record was only modified for safety, equipping the model with racing seats and a roll cage for the protection of the driver.
