Francesco Bagnaia became the MotoGP champion for the second time in 2023, a season in which Ducati also retained the constructors’ title. Nevertheless, the team manager, Davide Tardozzi, didn’t experience the year solely with positive emotions.
In an interview with the championship’s official website, the official revealed it was a tough season for him despite the successful outcome: ‘Personally for me it was a really though season. I feel pain inside when we aren’t in a good shape, when we don’t win. In the end it was really hard to me to finish the season – while in the end Pecco gave me an enormous satisfaction winning the title with the race victory’.
Despite the dominance and titles of the last two years, like any other team, Ducati always has something to improve. Tardozzi highlighted a vital area for a factory team: ‘I think we have to look at what we did good and what we gave to the riders in terms of growing in relationships, speaking with the engineers, explaining things to let the bike grow. I think for the factory team the most important thing is the connection between riders and engineers’.
