Car registrations in Portugal increased by 27.8% until November compared to the same period last year, with 215,220 new vehicles registered by the legal representatives of brand operating in the national market.
According to data released by the Automobile Association of Portugal (ACAP) in November, 19,439 vehicles were registered, which is 1% less than the same month in 2019, but 9.8% more compared to November 2022.
In terms of categories, 15,769 new passenger cars were registered in November, which is 4.2% less than the same month in 2019. However, compared to November of last year, the market experienced a growth of 2.7%.
Overall, from January to November 2023, registrations of passenger cars reached a total of 182,988 units, resulting in a negative variation of 11.6% compared to the same period in 2019. Compared to the year 2022, the market experienced an increase of 28.6%.
As for the light commercial vehicle market, in the eleventh month of 2023, there was a negative evolution of 9.4% compared to the same month in 2019, with 2,606 registered units. However, compared to the same month in 2022, there was a growth of 54.5%.
In cumulative terms, the market reached 25,218 units, representing a decrease of 25.9% compared to the same period in 2019 and an increase of 22.5% compared to 2022.
As for the heavy vehicle market, which includes passenger and goods types, there was an increase of 254.7% in November compared to the same month in 2019, with 1,064 vehicles of this category being sold. Compared to the same month in 2022, the market experienced an increase of 60.5%.
Between January and November 2023, registrations in this category reached 7,014 units, representing a 28.4% market increase compared to the same period in 2019 and a 26.6% increase compared to 2022.
