Toyota has announced that it will produce an inclusive electric mobility vehicle, the Accessible People Mover (APM), at the Ovar factory in Portugal, to provide «last mile» services and transport people with special accessibility needs during the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.
During the Games, Toyota will have approximately 250 APMs in circulation to support the transportation of athletes, visitors, and staff in various facilities, including event or competition venues and other official locations such as the Olympic Village.
The APM is a battery-powered electric vehicle with a range of up to 100 km and a maximum speed of 20 km/h, designed in Belgium by Toyota Motor Europe and will be produced in Portugal. Vehicle production is scheduled to begin in February 2024. These APM units join the Caetano Bus hydrogen fuel cell buses also produced by the Salvador Caetano Group in Portugal.
