Toprak ‘Show’ Razgatlioglu, there he is once again and without a rival to match him at Donington! The BMW rider had (another) dream weekend in the UK and completed a hat-trick of victories at Donington Park, where he was always on another level compared to the others! Pole position, race 1 win, fastest in Sunday’s Warm Up, Superpole win and race 2 win! Overwhelming!
If there were already few adjectives to describe what Razgatlioglu had been doing this weekend at the British circuit, then they are even scarcer after what he did in race 2.
The Turk made a strong start and made the most of the pole position he had secured yesterday and from there… it’s history. He led from start to finish, and if that wasn’t enough, things didn’t stop there: after setting a pole position with a record lap, he would do the same this morning in Superpole and as there are no two without three, he did it again in race 2. On lap 3, Razgatlioglu lapped in 1:25.597s and thus broke another historic mark at Donington Park.
In second place was Nicolò Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) again, 8.062s behind the Turk, and he was the best representative of the Italian manufacturer, while Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) was the best home rider, finishing third after crossing the line 10.026s behind the #54.
Scott Redding (Bonovo Action BMW) took his M 1000 RR to fourth place, beating (still) world champion Álvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati).
Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team) was sixth, and the best on track among the independent riders, ahead of Andrea Locatelli (Pata Prometeon Yamaha), the best Yamaha on track, precisely ahead of his teammate Jonathan Rea.
Dominique Aegerter (I GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) was ninth and Axel Bassani (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) completed the top ten.
