The eighth place in qualifying for the Brazilian Formula 1 Grand Prix is a source of disappointment for Carlos Sainz. The Ferrari driver showed good pace until the circumstances that affected his running in Q3. Nevertheless, due to the penalty of George Russell (Mercedes) ahead of him, he will start seventh in the main race at Interlagos.
The Spaniard admitted that he ended the qualifying session disappointed: ‘I am very disappointed because I felt good in the car, but we missed a good opportunity. The storm arrived very quickly, the wind increased in intensity, and it caught me during the lap. I tried to stay composed, but it was extremely difficult, and the lap was not good. We were one of the last cars in the queue in the pit lane, and every second counts in these situations’.
The past is in the past, and Sainz is now focused on what remains of the weekend: ‘It is what it is, and now it’s time to focus on Saturday’.
