Abt Sportsline is already working on the next season of DTM, in which it will have a new partner: it has signed a contract with Red Bull as the main sponsor. At the same time, it will continue with two Audi R8 LMS GT3.
The German structure even considered a switch to Lamborghini – also part of the Volkswagen Group – after this year having lined up a car from the brand in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring. However, the final option was to remain faithful to Audi, with which it has achieved success in the DTM.
As for the drivers, Abt retains the two it had this season: Kelvin van der Linde will advance to his fourth season, while Ricardo Feller will be in the championship for the third year.
Martin Tomczyk, sports director of Abt, said: ‘We are proud to be the first team to present our complete lineup for the next season of DTM. This gives us a decisive head start for our preparations before 2024. As for the car and the drivers, we trust in the tried and tested. Abt and Audi have worked together in the DTM for 24 years. You don’t just end such a good and successful partnership, even if the overall conditions change. We have always emphasized that we wanted to continue with Ricardo and Kelvin. I can’t imagine a better pair of drivers in the DTM right now. The return of Red Bull as a partner in our cars is the icing on the cake and will give wings to everyone in the team’.
