The 2023 MotoGP season was again challenging for Monster Energy Yamaha, unable to contend for the championship. Fabio Quartararo was their best-placed rider, finishing tenth in the championship without securing any win.«
Carlo Pernat analyzed the season of various manufacturers in an interview with GPOne.com. Regarding Yamaha, the rider manager was particularly critical, stating:
– I would give Yamaha a 5, but I feel kind. Definitely insufficient, I’d say almost a 4. They are to blame for not having a clear development on aerodynamics and the engine, but above all, they put a talented rider like Fabio Quartararo in conditions that could lead to him being lost. This is a fault because Quartararo is a rider capable of winning a world championship, as he has done before.
In Pernat’s opinion, given the situation Quartararo was put in, Yamaha’s rating is even lower: ‘In terms of talent, he doesn’t have to envy anyone. So, even here, I see a double fault. I think the fairest grade would be a 4 because putting a rider like Fabio almost on the brink of being lost, he isn’t someone with an unbreakable personality. He made a bet with Yamaha in 2022, but he wouldn’t do it again today’.
