The PSP and GNR will have 789 new light vehicles by 2025 worth €34 million, according to the public procurement tender presented at the Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI).
The international public tender for the acquisition of light vehicles for the National Republican Guard and Public Security Police for the years 2023 to 2025 takes place within the scope of the Infrastructure and Equipment Programming Law for Security Forces and Services, and will allow to “improve community policing and visibility,” emphasized the Minister of Internal Administration, José Luís Carneiro, in statements to “RTP”.
The public tender will have 45 lots, 23 of which for the GNR and 22 for the PSP, and the deadline for submitting proposals ends on November 30.
During the presentation ceremony, the Minister of Internal Administration considered it to be a “particularly relevant moment”, fulfilling the objective of “modernizing the transport equipment of the PSP and GNR”.
The Minister also said that, within the scope of the Infrastructure and Equipment Programming Law for Security Forces and Services, 2,152 vehicles have already been delivered to the police between 2017 and 2021, worth around €52 million.
