Sébastien Ogier will be back in action at the Central Europe Rally, the penultimate round of the World Rally Championship (WRC). This is the second purely asphalt event, making its debut on the calendar in addition to the unprecedented feat of visiting three countries.
The eight-time world champion began by congratulating the Japanese team on winning the constructors’ title in Chile: ‘I am really happy that the team is constructors’ champion again: it is well deserved after the great work this season’.
Next, Ogier expressed his enthusiasm for the new challenge that this rally represents: ‘Although it is difficult to know what to expect for this rally, I am always excited to face a new challenge. It is also close to home for me nowadays, and I am sure there will be many rally fans watching and supporting us’.
In the Frenchman’s opinion, his chances may depend, to some extent, on the weather conditions: ‘I am not sure if my starting position will be ideal, but it will probably depend on the weather: if it is dry, we can probably fight for the front positions, and if it is wet, it may be more difficult for us after some cars have gone through the stages. But I always start every rally aiming for the highest possible result, and it should be fun’.
