Without giving the opposition a chance, Max Verstappen dominated yesterday’s sprint race of the United States Grand Prix in Formula 1. He was still under pressure from Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) right after the start, but he resisted and once he had a solid first place, no one truly bothered him anymore.
The Dutchman mentioned that after the initial pressure, he had his own race in a car that performed better than expected: ‘We had a strong day. It was very close in the beginning with Charles, but after that, we could focus on our own race. The car’s pace was really good, a little better than we expected, and we took very good care of the tires.’
As for the main race, Verstappen talked about his approach: ‘Starting from sixth will be interesting, we will try to stay out of trouble in the first lap and then gradually make our way through the field. Hopefully, we can have some fun!’
