Yari Montella wasn’t particulalary happy with the mistake he did yesterday at Donington Park, that meant he was demoted in one position, losing then the race win, despite the strong performance he had.
‘This race means a lot to us because from yesterday [saturday] to today [sunday] , we only changed the tyres. The problems we had in Race 1 were not due to the setup, and today we were competitive for the win’, Montella began to say in a team statement.
The italian rider explained his race strategy and spoke about the mistake he did, saying: ‘When [Adrian] Huertas tried to overtake me and went wide, I knew it was time to push to create a gap. I tried to gain some advantage and avoid making mistakes, but evidently, I made a decisive one’.
While the outcome is undoubtedly frustrating, Montella’s comments underscore the team’s growing competitiveness and their ability to quickly address issues between races.
