After replacing Álex Rins at the German GP, Remy Gardner will return to the MotoGP World Championship after the summer break. Yamaha announced that the Australian rider will participate as a wildcard in the British GP, with Cal Crutchlow sidelined.
Initially, the British rider was scheduled for this wildcard as a test rider for Yamaha. However, Crutchlow is currently recovering from a hand injury and is unable to ride, despite the three-week gap until the Silverstone round.
This same injury already kept Crutchlow out of his first planned wildcard appearance at the Italian GP in early June. Of the three scheduled wildcards, the San Marino GP in September remains.
In Sachsenring, Gardner had his first encounter with the current YZR-M1, making it a weekend of adaptation, finishing in 19th place. Now, as he approaches the British GP, the World Superbike rider will have some prior experience to build upon.
