Hours before of the race, which could be hard due to his physical condition, Francesco Bagnaia was the fastest man of the warm-up at the MotoGP San Marino GP. The reigning champion outperformed the two other riders who stood on the podium in yesterday’s sprint race at Misano.
From the first flying laps, the lead belonged to Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati), who managed to improve his lap time as the session progressed. However, in the last two minutes, the Spanish rider was overtaken by the main contenders from yesterday’s sprint race: Bagnaia (Ducati) and Marco Bezzecchi (Mooney VR46 Racing Team/Ducati), who climbed to first and second, respectively.
Right at the end, Martín regained the lead… only to have his lap canceled for exceeding track limits. Thus, Bagnaia was the fastest in the warm-up with a 0.131s gap over Bezzecchi. Martín finished third, followed by Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM) and Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda) in the top five.
