It’s not news, but let’s remember that the Silverstone round will have a ‘new’ rider riding in Yamaha colours as a wildcard, and it’s not Cal Crutchlow, but Remy Gardner.
The Briton, who left the category full-time in mid-2020, had planned with the team to head to his home round for a wildcard appearance and to help gather data for the development of the M1, but an injury to his right hand that had been bothering him for some time led him to make that decision.
So the Japanese manufacturer turned to Gardner once again, who will be racing again after being at the last GP at Sachsenring.
