Last Saturday, Marc Márquez participated in the Lenovo Race of Champions, an exhibition race included in the World Ducati Days program. Despite the friendly nature of the event, Márquez was involved in an incident that has sparked discussion.
In the final corner, the Spanish rider representing Gresini in MotoGP attempted to overtake Nicolò Bulega for third place. In what appeared to be a touch between the two, Bulega, who races for Aruba.it Ducati in the World Superbike Championship, ended up falling.
This Thursday, Márquez was questioned about the incident during a press conference. The six-time MotoGP world champion admitted to making a mistake and explained the situation:
– I tried something there that I’m used to do with a MotoGP, but on that moment I didn’t understand that I was on a street bike. And even if it is a really good bike because we were riding on the limit, I didn’t expect the reaction of the bike and I couldn’t stop well. Unfortunately it finished like this, but it was a mistake. I can’t say anything more.
