Following the announcement of Ducati’s factory support for Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team starting from 2025, the team has not yet officially announced its riders… but they might already be decided.
In an interview with Canal+, Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi was asked about which bikes would be allocated to the team, to which he replied: ‘A factory bike for [Fabio] Di Giannantonio and a 2024 bike for [Franco] Morbidelli’.
Di Giannantonio joined VR46 this year but is at the end of his contract, and his renewal has not yet been officially announced. Morbidelli, on the other hand, is with Prima Pramac, which is switching to Yamaha, making his departure a certainty. The Italian has a long connection with the VR46 Riders Academy.
If Di Giannantonio and Morbidelli are confirmed as VR46’s riders, it is expected that Fermín Aldeguer will be Álex Márquez’s teammate at Gresini Racing. The current Moto2 rider has a contract with Ducati to move up to MotoGP in 2025 with one of its satellite teams. According to his manager, Ducati will have to pay a significant amount if it does not promote him to the top category next year.
