Jorge Martín put in an outstanding performance at the Misano Grand Prix, winning both the Sprint race and Sunday’s race. The Spanish rider dominated from the start on a circuit that wasn’t one of his favorites.
Asked about the weekend and his performance, Jorge Martin said: ‘I love this circuit from now on, I felt very comfortable all weekend and it’s always special to win at the home of Ducati. After the Sprint race I knew that Pecco (Bagnaia) and Marco (Bezzecchi) would put up a good fight. The initial aim was to maintain the pace in the first phase of the race because we didn’t have much grip due to the Moto 2 race, but as soon as I saw the two behind me dropping physically I started to increase the pace, brake later and take more risks. As soon as I got within two seconds I tried to keep it until the end of the race and luckily I did, I’m very happy’.
The Spanish rider admitted that he’s not worried about the chance to win the world championship and says he doesn’t feel it’s his responsibility: ‘I don’t have the responsibility to win the championship, but if I get the chance, of course I’ll take it. I’m not even a factory driver, I have no responsibility to be champion’.
