Jorge Martín finished second in the MotoGP Sprint race at the British Grand Prix. The Prima Pramac Racing rider started from fourth but quickly moved to the lead in the early laps, a position he held for most of the race. However, he was eventually overtaken by Enea Bastianini (Ducati) and ended up 1.094s behind the winner.
In an interview on the official MotoGP website, the Spaniard recalled his strong start, where he made a bold move to recover from the second row of the grid:
– Thank you to everybody. Today it was really nice to race here in Silverstone. For sure we did a small mistake in the qualifying, so it was difficult starting from the second row. But straightaway at the start I was into the first position; I was pushing like if it was a qualifying.
Acknowledging Bastianini’s superiority, Martín also expressed his ambition to win the main race, saying: ‘Finally Enea was superb, he was much stronger than me. But it was a nice way to pay tribute to Ángel Nieto with his helmet. Hopefully tomorrow we can bring it to the first position’.
