Fabio Di Giannantonio was once again one of the highlights today, finishing the race in fifth, after starting from tenth place on the grid. The italian regretted having lost a lot of time to beat Aleix Espargaró, because he felt he could have achieved an even more positive result.
After the race, the VR46 Racing Team rider, who will have the only Desmosedici GP25 next year, spoke about the race and how he lost a lot of time with the pole position winner: ‘He was much slower and wanted to overtake well to shorten the difference for the guys at the front. I overtook him once, and he returned the maneuver and we started fighting and lost a lot of time’.
The Italian also mentioned that he would have liked to have had the Spaniard’s “help” to go further forward and get closer to the riders in front: ‘I saw the boys (in front) at almost two seconds and it was a shame because I had the pace to be there. with Marc [Márquez] and maybe with Pecco [Bagnaia]. I was just thinking: «Let’s collaborate to move forward, let’s not do stupid things»’.
DiGia is eighth in the world, just ahead of Aleix Espargaró.
