The Wildhorse Resort & Casino in Pendleton, Oregon, is set to host the third edition of the Wildhorse Ladies Golf Classic from August 16 to 18. This prestigious event on the Epson Tour, the second largest women’s golf circuit in the United States, promises a thrilling competition with top-tier talent, including sisters Angelica and Benedetta Moresco.
With nine of the top ten players in the Race For The Card standings set to compete, the stakes are higher than ever as the season enters its final stretch. Players are fiercely battling for one of the fifteen coveted spots that grant entry to the LPGA Tour at the end of the year—five more spots than were available in 2023.
Leading the charge are top-ranked Jessica Porvasnik, 2022 winner Daniela Iacobelli, New Zealand’s Fiona Xu, Lauren Stephenson, Kim Kaufman, and China’s Yahui Zhang, who is notably absent this week. The field also includes Madison Young, Australia’s Cassie Porter, Brianna Chacon, and Ruixin Liu, all aiming to solidify their positions in the top ten.
The competition extends beyond the top ten, as players ranked 11th to 15th, including Dana Fall, Soo Bin Joo, Brooke Matthews, Mariel Galdiano, and Kaleigh Telfer, strive to secure a more stable position. Meanwhile, athletes currently outside the top 15, such as Savannah Vilaubi, Kathleen Scavo, Valery Plata, and Janice Peng, are eager to make a late-season push.
The Moresco sisters are coming into the event with momentum. Angelica Moresco has performed consistently in her recent appearances, including a 14th-place finish at the Hartford HealthCare Women’s Championship. Benedetta Moresco has also shown strong form, splitting her time between the Epson Tour and the LPGA Tour, where she secured a 19th-place finish at the CPKC Women’s Open.
With a total purse of $262,500, including a $39,375 prize for the winner, the Wildhorse Ladies Golf Classic promises high drama as the season’s end draws near. The competition is fierce, and with so much on the line, every shot counts in this crucial event.
