As the NASCAR Cup Series heads to Michigan International Speedway for the FireKeepers Casino 400, all eyes are on the drivers battling for a playoff spot. With just three races left in the 2024 regular season, those on the playoff bubble, including Brad Keselowski, will be pulling out all the stops to secure a crucial win. However, it’s Keselowski who has caught the attention of former NASCAR Cup champion Kevin Harvick.
Harvick believes Keselowski, the 2012 Cup champion and RFK Racing co-owner, has the best shot at taking the checkered flag at Michigan. He picked Keselowski over his RFK Racing teammate Chris Buescher, who is also in desperate need of a win to solidify his playoff chances. Harvick highlighted the historical success of Ford at Michigan, along with the extra focus engine builder Doug Yates has placed on this event, as key factors that could give Keselowski the edge over his rivals.
Harvick also hinted at the possibility of Ford bringing an engine upgrade specifically for this race, which could provide the Mustangs with a significant advantage. Michigan’s track, known for its high-speed demands, is well-suited to Ford’s RPM capabilities, which could be the difference-maker for Keselowski and the other Ford drivers.
In addition to Keselowski, Team Penske drivers Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney will be major contenders this weekend, eager to bounce back after a disappointing showing at Richmond, where no Ford team finished inside the top 10. With the stakes high and the pressure on, Ford teams will be motivated to assert their dominance at a track where they have traditionally excelled.
