Ducati has ventured into the motocross world, expanding into a new segment. In the coming years, the company might take another significant step by producing enduro bikes based on the Desmo450 MX.
Tony Cairoli, a rider involved in Ducati’s motocross program, revealed in an interview with Motorcycle News that the brand has ambitious plans:
– The plan is first to complete the 250 cc motocross platform, that’s the next step. Then we will have enduro bike. By 2027, we will have some ready on the market. We haven’t decided for certain yet when it will be though, because we want to develop the bikes well. Next year the 450 cc will be here for sure, and after that the 250 cc will follow
The Desmo450 MX, which will compete in the MXGP World Championship, is expected to be available for purchase by mid-next year, once it’s in the final stages of development. With the 250cc version being the next priority, there will be some time before street-legal enduro models derived from this platform are released.
