Jorge Martín impressed and secured pole position at the MotoGP Austrian GP. The rider set a new lap record at the Red Bull Ring with a time of 1m27.748s, beating Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) by 0.141s.
Yesterday, the Prima Pramac rider suffered a cut on his finger while taking a shower. Martín admitted in the official broadcast that the injury slightly bothers him while riding:
– Well, it was a difficult morning. Actually yesterday I had this cut on my finger that I thought was going to be better, but this morning was really painful. They stitched me and at least I can ride. When riding it’s not a big problem, I was able to work well in the morning even if it is disturbing me a little bit.
Regarding his performance, Martín said: ‘Now I’m feeling confident for the afternoon. We changed a lot the bike, and doing this amazing record here, and I think it’s my third pole position here in MotoGP – so for sure it’s a really nice track for me. Let’s enjoy this afternoon’.
