The lineup of riders fighting for the Moto2 pole position at the Austrian GP is complete. Zonta van den Goorbergh was the fastest in Q1 at the Red Bull Ring, progressing to the Q2 along with Fermín Aldeguer, Albert Arenas, and Senna Agius.
Arenas (QJMotor Gresini/Kalex) was in the lead after the first laps, with Aldeguer (Sync SpeedUp/Boscoscuro) in second, Agius (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP/Kalex) in third, and Jaume Masiá (Preicanos Racing Team/Kalex) in fourth.
While this was the qualifying zone, other riders were still in contention for the top spots. Indeed, there were changes in the final minutes.
On his last lap, van den Goorbergh (RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP/Kalex) took the lead and held it, with Aldeguer improving to second, just 0.024s behind. Arenas secured third place.
Dennis Foggia (Italtrans Racing Team/Kalex) was in fourth but lost his best time due to a track limits violation, allowing Agius to claim fourth. Jeremy Alcoba (Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team/Kalex) missed out on the top four by 0.047s.
