Augusto Fernández will leave the Red Bull GasGas Tech3 team at the end of this MotoGP season, and one thing is certain: in 2025, he will not compete in the premier class after two years in the grid.
After the Austrian GP, the Spanish rider confirmed to the press that he will not be competing in MotoGP next year, but is currently working on his future:
– We are working. I’m not going to be on the grid, but I’m going to ride a MotoGP bike. We are working, but it’s not done. Hopefully soon will be.
It’s worth noting that in recent weeks, there have been rumors in the international press about Fernández joining Yamaha as a test rider.
If confirmed, he would join Cal Crutchlow in this role, providing the Iwata manufacturer with another solution at a time when relying solely on the British rider has proven insufficient.
He was injured in May and has not been able to ride since, missing out on wildcards, which shows that depending on only one test rider can lead to similar situations.
