Many motorcycle manufacturers are thinking that 2024 will be a big year. The Chinese brand Zontes is clearly one of them, as at EICMA 2023, the company presented a series of new models. In addition to its ambitions to enter the premium and high-performance segment, Zontes is also expanding its entry-level offerings.
Cruisers have always been considered ideal bikes for beginner riders, thanks to their low seat height, user-friendly performance and general affordability. Cruisers with small engines, such as the new 125 C from Zontes, take accessibility to a whole new level, making them one of the easiest bikes to ride. From a styling point of view, the Zontes 125 C departs slightly from what we’ve come to associate with the brand. Gone are the aggressive, angular lines in favor of a more retro-inspired approach, similar to that found on Honda’s Rebel range of cruisers. It has a muscular tank, a round LED headlight, fork guards and a relaxed, low stance.
From a performance point of view, the Zontes 125 C follows the formula of all A1 two-wheelers for beginners. It has a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected 125 cc single-cylinder engine with a power output of no more than 15 hp. The engine is installed in a compact tubular steel frame, which includes telescopic front forks as standard with guards for a more retro look. Meanwhile, the rear suspension consists of twin shock absorbers and a steel swingarm.
As for other features, the Zontes 125 C rides on 16-inch alloy wheels (similar to those on the Honda Rebel 300 and 500). The tires measure 120/80 at the front and 140/70 at the rear, which contributes to the cruiser’s muscular look. The 125 C comes with front and rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS.
Speaking of muscular looks, the 125 C seems much bigger than the size of its engine might suggest. It has a wheelbase of 1485 mm (about 58 inches) and a length of 2100 mm (83 inches). The seat height is 700 mm (27 inches), and the weight is 153 kg dry.
Zontes is expected to launch the new 125 C on the European market in early 2024, although at the time of writing, the official price and availability have not yet been confirmed.
