Pertamina Enduro VR46 will have a new rider in the 2024 MotoGP season, with Fabio Di Giannantonio joining after leaving Gresini. At the end of last year, he was in excellent form, including a victory, and Carlo Pernat believes that this version of the Italian rider will be able of competing for titles.
When asked by MOW Mag about who might surprise and join the fight for the 2024 title, the manager stated: ‘The two from VR46. That’s also a great team, and both Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Di Giannantonio will have something to say. The first, Bezzecchi, is very strong, and I’ve seen many riders. The other, Di Giannantonio, had a crazy end to the season; he seemed like a different person. It might seem heretical to some, but I say that the Diggia seen at the end of 2023 is someone who could easily fight for the title against anyone’.
Pernat added: ‘I always say you can see in the eyes of riders when they make the transition from riders to champions, and in Fabio Di Giannantonio’s eyes, I saw that transition. He matured incredibly, and you could see a hunger in him that was intimidating. If he starts again as he finished, it will be a problem for everyone’.
