Marc Márquez has joined Gresini and could be one of Jorge Martín’s main rivals in the fight for the top spots in MotoGP.
‘Marc Márquez is a guy with eight world championships and who, just because of his record, is a match for other riders. He’s not a guy you’d like to fight, because he’s very elusive, he doesn’t throw in the towel. I think it has to be a motivation, not an obsession. At the end of the day, when you open a newspaper, even if he came 15th, they’ll be talking about Marc Márquez. It was the same with Valentino Rossi. If you want to be champion, you have to fight against the best’, emphasised Prama’s sporting director in an interview with the Relevo portal.
‘I was asked in Valencia, after the tests, if I was surprised by what Marc Márquez did. And I said no, he did exactly what I expected. In that training session Marc gave his 100%, after everything he’d been through and with all the anger he’d built up. Many riders were looking at the clock because after a World Championship they were back on the bike on a Monday, practically with the same bike… They weren’t motivated to the maximum. It won’t be because Márquez has just arrived and is going to wipe everyone out. That he’s going to fight? Yes. The fans stop you in the street and tell you that Marc is going to win next season. Relax, kid, the other riders are racing too and they’re going fast too. And Pecco has two world championships. But it won’t be like that, Marc has arrived and he’s going to win tomorrow’ he finalised.
At Gresini, Marc Márquez will be joined by his younger brother Álex.
