Although not contractually tied to Ducati, Marc Márquez promises to make waves at the Borgo Panigale manufacturer, riding for Gresini in MotoGP this year. Álvaro Bautista commented on this change and the potential future of the six-time premier class champion.
The two-time Superbike world champion believes that the arrival of #93 to the Ducati «universe» will be an opportunity but also a challenge, as he told DAZN: ‘They have to be proud of this. This will allow them to raise the bar even higher, if possible. Last year they were unbeatable and won everything. And this year, with a rider like Marc… it will be good, but at the same time very complicated to manage. Because he is not a factory rider’.
Regarding Márquez’s future, Bautista admitted that he would like to see his fellow countryman on the Ducati factory team as early as the next season: ‘Honestly, I hope to see him wearing red with me during the Ducati presentation in 2025. Because that would mean he will be part of the official team, and I will also continue in WorldSBK with Ducati’.
