As the first day of MotoGP tests in Sepang nears its end, with less than two hours remaining, the leader of the timesheets is Jorge Martín, the only one so far lapping in the 1m57s.
In the best lap of the day so far, the Pramac Racing Spanish rider lapped in 1m57.951s. In second place is the surprising rookie Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM), who continues to impress after a solid performance in the shakedown. He is 0.269s off the lead.
Fabio Di Giannantonio, newly arrived at the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, is third, with the top five rounded out by Enea Bastianini (Ducati) and Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) – both already more than half a second behind the top. The best Honda is Johann Zarco’s (LCR Honda) in seventh, while Álex Rins is the strongest of the Monster Energy Yamaha in ninth.
The two-time champion Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) is currently in 13th place, just ahead of Luca Marini who is the best of the Repsol Honda in 14th. Meanwhile, Marc Márquez (Gresini Racing/Ducati) occupies a modest 19th place.
It is worth noting the absence of Franco Morbidelli who, following the heavy crash during a practice in Portimão last week, is currently replaced by Michele Pirro in the second Pramac Ducati.
