Takaaki Nakagami secured a few days ago the renewal of his contract with LCR Honda, thus lining up in 2024 alongside Johann Zarco in the satellite team of the golden wing brand.
Occupying only the 17th position in the championship at the moment, and with clear difficulties and in being able to raise the performance of his Honda – as well as the other riders of the Japanese brand – Nakagami now has a new challenge with the debut of the championship in India.
In the preview of the GP, the Japanese driver stated that he had not yet made the lap on foot to the circuit, but that there was some concern about the proximity of the wall in some places of the circuit, despite the good design of the layout:
– I haven’t done the track walk yet, but this afternoon I’m going to ride with my team to see what the circuit is like. I last saw the drawing in Misano during the security commission. The layout looks quite nice, but I don’t know, some curves, in some places, the wall looks too close, but the first impression is quite good.
Takaaki Nakagi further said that it is difficult to predict Honda’s performance at the new circuit with the desire for grip to be elevated:
– I can’t say anything yet, but it looks like there’s a long straight and the design seems to be not so much braking and acceleration, but rather more fluid and, hopefully, with a lot of grip. In FP1 we will try to be calm, and I will try to understand back to turn the circuit design and the points of change of direction.
