We are just hours away from seeing Andrea Iannone returning to the worlds, now competing at the Superbike World Championship, in a very different category to what he was used. The rider goes without expectations but with a lot of excitement, and has the top ten as target.
Before the action gets going, the Team GoEleven rider said: ‘I don’t know what to expect because everything is new for me. I think that the format is totally different; I spoke with my team manager and he explained the rules, the way to start the Championship and everything. In any case, I’m very excited. It’s a strange feeling to be back but I’m happy to be back with all of you, the riders etc. This is what I loved for all my life’.
He then recalled his preparation for the start of the real action, adding: ‘The pre-season isn’t bad; I’m a little bit surprised because the speed in general is high. We weren’t sure at the beginning because I didn’t ride the race bike but in any case, it was a good pre-season for us’.
As for his goals, the italian was clear: ‘We want to try and fight with the best riders but the top ten positions are our target. Step-by-step, we need to improve and in each race, we’ll improve’.
