In a press release, the Piaggio Group announced the new composition of its board of directors, appointed following the recent death of Chairman and CEO Roberto Colaninno.
Director Matteo Colaninno has been appointed Executive Chairman and Director Michele Colaninno has been appointed Managing Director. The Board of Directors also co-opted Carlo Zanetti as a new non-executive member, keeping the number of directors unchanged.
Matteo Colaninno, born in 1970, with a degree in economics and commerce, has been a director of Piaggio since 2003 and Vice-Chairman since 2004. He is a shareholder, vice-chairman and executive director of Omniaholding, and a director of Immsi and Omniainvest. In his career, he has built strong political and institutional relationships with the highest positions in transversal institutions and has consolidated a solid and complete experience and training, also in industry, since the days of Sogefi, then Olivetti and Confindustria, of which he was director of young entrepreneurs from 2005 to 2008.
Michele Colaninno, born in 1976, also has a degree in Economics and Commerce. He is managing director of Omniaholding and Immsi (of which he is also managing director). At the Piaggio Group, he is a member of the Board of Directors and was Executive Director of global strategy, product, marketing and innovation.
He is the founder and chairman of the American robotics company Piaggio Fast Forward. Since June 2022, he has also held the position of President of ACEM (Association des Constructeurs Européens de Motocycles), the European motorcycle industry association based in Brussels, in which all the world’s motorcycle and scooter groups currently participate
The Board of Directors of Piaggio & C. S.p.A., made up of 9 members – the majority of whom, i.e. 5 members, meet the independence requirements of the applicable regulations – is therefore made up of: Matteo Colaninno (Executive Chairman), Michele Colaninno (Managing Director), Graziano Gianmichele Visentin (Independent Director), Rita Ciccone (Independent Director), Patrizia
Albano (Independent Director), Federica Savasi, Micaela Vescia (Independent Director), Andrea Formica (Independent Director) and Carlo Zanetti.
In accordance with the law, the new director will remain in office until the next General Shareholders’ Meeting.
As of today, Carlo Zanetti does not hold any shares in Piaggio & C. S.p.A..
