Jorge Martín topped the extra free practice session at the MotoGP Indian GP. The session was implemented after the rain hit a new circuit for all, but the asphalt was almost dry during the 15 minutes.
After the initial flying laps, the leader was Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda), with Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM) in second. Almost all riders opted for rain tyres in this early stage.
Several riders later returned to the pits, while Johann Zarco (Prima Pramac/Ducati) and Miller stayed on track, keeping the top two positions.
The riders eventually switched to slick tyres as the asphalt was nearly dry. Within the last five minutes, the Mooney VR46 Racing Team riders climbed to the top two positions, with Luca Marini leading Marco Bezzecchi… who were quickly overtaken.
Miller briefly took the lead ahead of Martín, but the Spaniard improved on his final lap to become the leader of this session. Zarco moved up to second, 0.851s slower. Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) was third and the only one to break the 1m49s barrier, with Miguel Oliveira (CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP Team/Aprilia) and Miller completing the top five.
