The penultimate day of Moto2 testing in Jerez has concluded, and once again, Arón Canet set the pace, as he did yesterday. While the times improved, the official lap record of the circuit has yet to be broken, in a year where riders adapt to the new Pirelli tires.
It was in the very first session of the day that Canet (Fantic Racing/Kalex) clocked the fastest time – 1m40.704s. He was 0.101s ahead of Joe Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing Team/Kalex), while Fermín Aldeguer (Sync SpeedUp/Boscoscuro) finished third, 0.180s behind.
Celestino Vietti (Red Bull KTM Ajo/Kalex) posted his best time only in the final session and secured fourth place, with Somkiat Chantra (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia/Kalex) finishing fifth with a time set in the opening session. Ai Ogura (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro) was the last rider to dip under the 1m40s mark, setting a time that allowed him to lead the second session of Thursday.
