On September 27, 2023, Brabus and KTM announced the launch of the last motorcycle in their trilogy: the Brabus 1300 R Masterpiece Edition. Only 50 of these extremely exclusive bikes will be manufactured and sold worldwide, with 25 offered in Onyx Black and 25 in Diamond White. Both variants are finished in a shade that Brabus calls Frozen Gold, along with a Brabus carbon fiber fairing that is even more special than ever.
This is the third collaboration between Brabus and KTM, and all have been based on the KTM 1290 Super Duke R Evo. The first was the Brabus 1300 R, launched in February 2022, with a total of 154 bikes, also available in two colors. This series sold out in less than two minutes. Then came the Brabus 1300 R Edition 23, which consisted of a total of 290 bikes, also offered in a choice of two colors. It too sold out almost as soon as it was launched.
The Brabus 1300 R Masterpiece Edition is equipped with the KTM LC8 twin-cylinder engine, which produces 180 hp of power at 9,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 140 Nm at 8,000 rpm. The 0 to 100 km/h time is claimed to be 3.2 seconds. The top speed is 270 km/h.
Although Brabus has been comfortable with most of the parts on this bike, the suspension duties are performed by a WP Apex semi-active suspension that offers an automatic mode and a manually adjustable mode. It also has a WP Apex Pro 7117 steering damper. The brakes are made up of a pair of Brembo Stylema 4-piston calipers at the front with 320 mm floating rotors, along with a Brembo 2-piston caliper and a 240 mm single disc at the rear. Driving modes, a quick-shift lever, cornering ABS, supermoto mode and an adaptive brake light are all standard.
Now it’s time to talk about the Brabus of it all. Brabus has been in the car tuning game since 1977, with renowned specialties in carbon fibre, leather and CNC-machined parts. You’ll often see the company’s name alongside partners such as Mercedes-Benz, Smart, Maybach and, in recent years, KTM.
If you’re Brabus, how do you top the work you’ve done on previous editions of the 1300 R? By increasing the exclusivity and carbon fiber, of course. With only 25 units of each color being produced, it’s clear that very few people will own one of these Masterpiece Editions. As for the carbon fiber, Brabus has added a single-sided swingarm cover, dashboard cover, connector cover and rear side fairing covers to its already extensive list of carbon parts and accessories located from the headlight to the taillight.
There’s a large round Brabus LED headlight at the front, as well as side fairings with wings inspired by MotoGP models, a front spoiler and a rear with a single seat and license plate holder. The wheels are Brabus Monoblock Z “Gold Platinum” alloy units, manufactured exclusively by Brabus for this bike. Additional details manufactured by Brabus include a CNC triple clamp, adjustable CNC brake and clutch levers, CNC aluminum brake and clutch reservoir covers, adjustable CNC footpegs, rear-view mirrors and slip-on dual exhaust with Frozen Gold details.
The grips and seat are heated and the seat features a “Diamond Rising” quilted leather pattern exclusive to Brabus. The Brabus 1300 R Masterpiece Edition also includes a special Brabus 1300 R Masterpiece badge on the seat, a custom-made Brabus interior motorcycle cover, floor mat and carbon key box.
The cost of the Brabus 1300 R Masterpiece Edition is €41,930 in Germany, not including value added tax (VAT). If you’re interested, you can find out more by contacting Brabus. Those who buy a Brabus 1300 R Masterpiece Edition will also receive a private tour of the Brabus headquarters in Bottrop, Germany, along with their new bike.
