Johann Zarco is making a good impression at LCR Honda. The rider, who came from Pramac, deserves praise from team owner Lucio Cecchinello after finishing 12th in the Qatar GP – where he was the best of the Honda riders.
In statements quoted on SPEEDWEEK.com, the Italian stated: ‘It seems that Johann has a very good feeling with the throttle. As a result, he has slightly less tire sliding on each lap. It’s not just his talent, it’s also certainly experience’.
According to Cecchinello’s perspective, Zarco controls the throttle well and, thanks to that, in the Qatar GP, he took advantage of having the tyres in good condition at the end: ‘All riders like to turn with the rear and it’s also fun. However, it’s not effective, and lap times usually suffer as the race progresses. Johann manages the throttle very well and therefore manages to prevent some tyre wear, so he also had a small advantage in the end in Doha. He said he would have overtaken [Fabio] Quartararo too if the race had two more laps’.
